I'm sitting in a crowded café. Straight ahead is a young couple, the woman staring intently at a computer screen, the man writing feverishly in a notebook. They work steadily, not looking up or speaking with each other. Ahead and to the right sits another couple. The young man sips from a large cup. He stares blankly ahead and then looks around aimlessly. The young woman concentrates on some of the artwork on the wall, turning occasionally to comment on the pieces. The young man breaks his reverie to nod agreement with her opinion. The counter is populated on the customer's side by a young woman, digging busily in her purse for money, and on the servers' side by a still younger woman with dreadlocks and a simple cloth skirt over a pair of jeans.
Everyone I see is busy. Whatever they're doing seems so important to them. They're very serious. They don't smile,and stay open to what these feelings are telling you about others and events.. They seldom interact. If I were a visitor from another planet, I'd say that these Earthlings are a very troubled, very preoccupied species. Actually, they all look hypnotized, dazed, entranced.
I watch the flow of life going on around me,Ironically,5819 Ugg Classic Cardy Grey Boots. I'm at peace. I'm content. Are there things I could be doing? Yes. Are there things I could be planning, reviewing, or worrying about? Sure. I'm human. I've got a life. But, for right now, I'm choosing to be in the moment. For me, there is no past, no future. Just now.
From this perspective, many things become clear: one is just how not present most people are. Another is how unnecessary it is to live anywhere but in the present moment. Our preoccupation with our difficulties is routed in the mistaken idea that something is terribly wrong and must be fixed. The first words to ponder in the workbook for The Course in Miracles by Russ Wise are these:
Nothing matters
That's it. Just those two simple words with the infinite power to change our entire lives.
Now, I can hear many of you reacting in defiance against this principle. And that's OK. You'd get lots of agreement from society at large for the insistence that some things do matter. What about war, disease, injustice? Don't these things matter?
Yes and no. From a human perspective, of course they do. We try our best to live within certain parameters and help when we can. But from a spiritual perspective, it's all neutral. Nothing has the inherent quality of goodness or badness,We Are All Vibrations.. It just is what it is. We humans attribute those qualities to the people and things around us. Devoid of judgment, the world actually becomes a friendlier place.
How would you treat others if you were God, or Jesus, or the Buddha? Would you accept some people or situations and reject others? No. You would love and cherish all beings and circumstances. You would treat everyone, regardless of his actions, with respect. You'd see those who acted inappropriately not as unacceptable, repulsive beings, but as confused children who had lost their way. How would you treat yourself? As a broken, hopeless mass of neuroses, or as a cherished, wonderful, and innocent individual, perfect exactly as you are?
We simply don't have the right to sit in judgment of ourselves or others. We have neither the experience nor the perspective to see the whole picture, and our judgments are necessarily skewed by the culture in which we were raised and the beliefs we've unwittingly imbibed.
That is why the great spiritual leaders of every age have advocated detachment. Detachment is the ability to step back from our mental constructs and look at the world from a neutral perspective. It's what Barry Weiss, a meditation teacher of thirty years, calls "being backstage." In other words, we recognize that all our thoughts, plans, beliefs, judgments, prejudices, problems, and solutions take place on the stage of life. But here's the good news. We're not who we think we are! We're not the ongoing monologue between our ears. We are, in fact, nothing more nor less than pure consciousness. We are backstage while the play of our life takes place before our eyes.
What is essence? Christians call it soul. Quakers call it that still small voice. Hindus call it the Atman. Buddhists call it consciousness. It is the fundamental you below your learned behaviors, thoughts and preferences. Look at the things that bring you joy: a beautiful sunset, an inspiring piece of music, a laughing child. Nobody taught you to love those things, because the appreciation you feel is inborn. It's part of your essence. At the deepest level, you are pure essence, and none of the things you use to identify yourself are truly you.
You can't think your way to that realization because anything you can think is happening in your mind, which is a limited form of consciousness. You need to reach this place in a distinctly different way. It requires courage and discipline to extricate yourself from the mistaken belief that you are your mind and, by extension, that every thought you have is vitally important. It is, however, vital if you're to break free of your limitations and experience what the Buddha called "liberation," what Jesus called "salvation," and what has been termed by spiritual leaders throughout the eons as "self-knowledge."
Eckart Tolle, the brilliant author of The Power of Now, begins his book with a fable. He tells the story of a beggar, sitting on a box, asking passersby to give him some money for food. One day, a man comes along and says, "I have nothing to give you, but what's in that box you're sitting on?" The beggar says, "This old box? Nothing. It's just a box I sit on." "Have you ever looked inside?" asks the man. "No, I haven't." "Take a look!" The beggar pries the lid off the box and to his astonishment finds it filled with diamonds and precious jewels.
Tolle goes on to say that the beggar represents each of us. We spend our lives begging for scraps of approval, attention, status, financial well-being, sex, sensory pleasures, power, and a host of other things, when our true wealth lies closer to us than the riches in the beggar's box. Jesus said, "Seek first the kingdom of heaven and all else will be given unto you." (Matthew 6:33)
He also said, "The kingdom of heaven is within." (Luke 17:20-21)
A simple logical deduction, therefore, is that if we seek within, our outer needs will be met as well. The path towards self-realization is one of the most important paths upon which we can embark. Nothing will provide contentment until we learn to touch our own essence. In a subsequent article, we'll explore the attributes of a path to connecting with that thing we call essence, but for now, let us leave this subject having made the commitment to the pursuit of our deeper truth. If you do no more now than to recognize the importance of this aspect of growth, you're certain to be met with opportunities to discover the methods that suit you for attainment of that truth.

So you know when you're around some people or events that just drain your energy? You know who I'm talking about, is it Aunt Martha that likes to talk a lot about her health problems, or is it the boss that pushes his agenda onto you? Here are 6 Great Tips to Protect your energy from them!
1. Realize that it is YOUR energy and you don't have to share it
Often times you feel an obligation to share your energy with someone that may clearly breach your space and energy. Women are very susceptible to this because we think that we must be nice, or we must be accommodating. We don't want to offend anyone, so we'd rather allow them to infringe our energy and suck us dry. This does not honor your energy! When you feel someone breaching your energy, take a step back and evaluate. Ask yourself, "Who's energy am I sharingand it is worth it?"
2. GROUND your Energy
Ever heard of the phrase, your best defense is a good offense? This is the same concept. Having in your awareness that your energy should be grounded will allow you to not be susceptible to energy zappers. One way to do this is to align your body in a straight up and down position, and close your eyes. You can also imagine an imaginary line running from your belly button to the ground (3 or 4 feet below you) and then from your belly button, to chest through your head and to the sky. In ancient cultures this would be called, "Aligning your Hara", but we'll call it Getting Grounded. Take three deep breaths and concentrate on getting grounded. This will allow you to align your energy to be fully aware of your surroundings and your energy. So key!

Has anyone ever taken up too much of your time? Is it that pesky sales person or the obligations that you feel to run the PTA, or to clean the house inside and out every day? Instead of feeling energetically that NO is a negative concept, realize that when you say no, you are saying YES to yourself. And who is the most important person in this world to you? YOU. So, honor your importance and be okay with saying NO to others, you are in fact saying YES to yourself!
5. Boundaries, Boundaries, Boundaries
When I first realized I had boundary issues, I immediately thought "No way,making money and dealing with life's obstacles, people with boundary issues are those that are like doormats, they'll do whatever, whenever for whoeverthat's not me." But it was, and it was a horrible eye opener!
Boundaries come in many shapes and sizes,Learning from Successful People. Boundaries, whether physical, or energetic, are so very important to honoring yourself. Are you getting pushed around at work because you are not willing to stand up and fight the good fight? It is just easier to go with the flow? Are you uncomfortable with how fast your spouse drives the car with your kids in the car, but you aren't allowed to say anything? These are all examples of boundaries. It is really about younot about them. In order to be clear about your boundaries, you must be clear about what you are okay with, and what you are not okay with.
6. Push or Pull Your Energy When necessary
When confronted with a persistent energy, it may become necessary to Push your energy, or to Pull on another's energy. What this essentially does is gives you the POWER to be able to make change, get proactive and take back your energy. I have found that when I am in contact with someone who likes to pull my energy, or drain me, I often have to PUSH back. Sometimes I give little warnings, or little signals, and when they do not respond, and then I give a decent energetic push. It does not have to be mean, and the push can come from a simple statement with good intentions. "I'd really love to explain why I did what I did, but I do not feel that this is the right time or place to engage in such a conversation." Assertive, respectful, and direct. This is what occurs when your energy is in alignment with your intentions.
You may be thinking that a lot of this is dealing with normal human emotions, but there is an energetic shift that occurs even before the emotions occur or the discussion happens. This is the energy that I am talking about. Most of you have felt energy when you're around someone that is angry, the energy feels harsh, or when you're around someone depressed, the energy feels draining. Live With An Attitude Of Gratitude,on the other hand
Imagine for a moment one of those nights when you just can't fall asleep and you have to get up early the next morning for a very important meeting of which you are the keynote speaker. Your alarm clock goes off early in the morning waking you from what little sleep you had. You stumble out of bed,while many would receive their degrees, have a quick shower,5819 Ugg Classic Cardy Grey Boots, grab a coffee and some toast, and off you go to fight the traffic on the way to work.
Does that sound like the start of a terrible day? Most would answer 'yes'. Few people however, would answer, 'no'. These are the people, who are in my opinion blessed with a gift. A gift that determines how they view their life. These people live with 'an attitude of gratitude'. For them, the situation described could be worse. Much worse. For example, think of the man who doesn't have a bed, let alone a roof to over his head. When he is awoken from what little sleep he is able to get, it is by the rain falling on his cold body. He too stumbles to his feet and begins his journey to work in his bare feet. His work is in the field of survival. He searches though garbage cans for scraps of half-rotten food to eat and odd bits of clothes to keep him warm.
The purpose of this example is to illustrate that we all have so much to be grateful for. Even in times when it seems that nothing could be worse, there is always a reason to be grateful. And when you feel a sense of gratitude, you feel a sense of happiness and content. My challenge to you today is to learn to look for the good in every situation and live with 'an attitude of gratitude'.
I assure you, if you were the fellow searching for food in garbage cans you too could find things to be grateful for. You just have to look hard enough and 'open your eyes' to what is around you. You have to focus on what's good in your life, not what's bad.

Life works in mysterious ways. Time and time again there have been stories of people who are in a dire strait yet they are found helping others who are experiencing greater turmoil. This is because once you have helped someone in greater need than yourself, you always feel better,loving kindness.. You feel better because you have helped another human being, and this forces you to change your mindset from focusing on your problems to focusing on their solutions.
Always focus on the solution, not the problem and live with an attitude of gratitude! Mother Teresa was a primary example of this phenomenon. Her entire life revolved around helping others in need. As a result she experienced a great deal of love and self-satisfaction in her life.
I challenge you now to take a moment to think of five things in your life that you are grateful for today. For example, your friends, your family, your job, your sense of smell, touch, sight, and sound. The list can go on and on. Imagine what your life would be like without these things. Write them down on a piece of paper and really think about the things you are grateful for. You will be amazed at how great you will feel!

Life works in mysterious ways. Time and time again there have been stories of people who are in a dire strait yet they are found helping others who are experiencing greater turmoil. This is because once you have helped someone in greater need than yourself, you always feel better,loving kindness.. You feel better because you have helped another human being, and this forces you to change your mindset from focusing on your problems to focusing on their solutions.
Always focus on the solution, not the problem and live with an attitude of gratitude! Mother Teresa was a primary example of this phenomenon. Her entire life revolved around helping others in need. As a result she experienced a great deal of love and self-satisfaction in her life.
I challenge you now to take a moment to think of five things in your life that you are grateful for today. For example, your friends, your family, your job, your sense of smell, touch, sight, and sound. The list can go on and on. Imagine what your life would be like without these things. Write them down on a piece of paper and really think about the things you are grateful for. You will be amazed at how great you will feel!

Turn up each sound on the tool to it's highest volume (100). Very few people will enjoy the result of this mix. Concentrate on the feelings the music evokes, trying to find the sound that is working the least for you. Once you have found that sound, reduce the volume until it no longer bothers you (this may be a volume of 0). Continue doing this until all disquieting sounds have been either removed altogether or reduced to a comforting level.
Your "ultimate mix" may change from day to day, depending on your mood. To help me relax, I usually have thunder as my highest level (100), ocean (65), a light rain (26), and faint wind chimes (13),"Power vs. Force. This mix makes me feel as though I am vacationing, and because of the inclement weather, I have no choice but to stay inside and relax,Whos Directing Your Life. For me, this creates a very peaceful and calming atmosphere.

I don't usually channel spirits in a direct way. Muses come to me for my creative work, and we co-create together.
But tonight I had a different experience. A great and wise spirit came to me and relayed a message telepathically that I am supposed to give his father. You see, this spirit is also currently incarnated as a young autistic boy.
Reader, you may or may not be aware that in order for spirits to take on a physical life, they must reduce their vibration significantly. When this is done, much of the enlightenment and power is, for lack of a better term, "removed." Otherwise, the vibration would be too much for the human form. Nearly everyone currently incarnated had to go through this process in order to be here.
Right now, on Earth, so much is going on. We are told that all of Heaven, the Angelic kingdoms,interesting context and a thought-provoking conclusion, and much of the Universe are focused on Earth, to help us get through this difficult transition known as the "End Times." And, as many of you know,5819 Ugg Classic Cardy Grey Boots, we have the potential for a beautiful new beginning here, right on Earth.
Why am I telling you this? And how does this relate to our story? This spirit is concerned because there are so many misconceptions. Many people, for instance, will see an autistic child, and think the child is less than human, almost mindless. In fact, in such instances it is we who are almost mindless. Whenever we don't understand something, we immediately think something is wrong with "them." There are so many things we don't understand; and yet we judge them without understanding.
You may also ask, "Why are so many autistic children being born now?" And we are told this is a bad thing.
This spirit wishes us to see from his point of view. He tells me the embodiment as an autistic child is a very spiritual lifetime of great service. Their physical form acts as a grounding device, allowing the vast spirit to do more work here on the physical plane than they could if they were to be inside the body. Using this form, and this process, the spirit does not need to tone down their vibration. They can work here, as a true liaison between spirit and physicality, effectively affecting both realms.
So, although most of their awareness is outside the body, the body is essential for their work. And it is essential that the child feel loved and well cared for. I have been feeling tingles the whole time I've been writing this article,Copyright 2004 byGerri D Smith. It appears this needs to be written; it is important for people to come to this understanding.
Also, the spirit wants me to tell the child's father that he wants a dog and cat. He tells me this will help with the grounding. And also, animals have a purer consciousness that is able to communicate better with autistic children than we can, so he won't feel so alone.
I can only deduce that, if you have an autistic child, and if you believe they will treat a pet well, then it would help them immensely to have a pet.
Hopefully this communication will help you to understand your child better. A child whose greatness of spirit, even now, is working ceaselessly to help the Earth and all of humanity.

Weight Loss and Staying Motivated by Marjorie Salada
Trying to lose weight has probably got to be the single most difficult thing in my life that I have tried to accomplish. Ask anyone else that has lost weight or tried to lose weight and I am sure that they will tell you the same thing. I think motivation is a major determining factor in how successful you are going to be at achieving your weight loss goals. Embrace Change
Last Sunday I was sitting in on a class we conduct for newcomers at our church. One of our pastors said, "If we don't change, we aren't growing, and if we aren't growing, we are dying". However, if you want a better marriage, more life balance, higher self-esteem, better behaved children, or more quality friendships, then you need to embrace change.
So many of us focus on changing other people around us, even though we know deep down this doesn't work. In fact, there is so much resistance to change that a book was written called Why Should I Be the First to Change? There are many answers to this question. First, you will be happier if you are continually growing and learning. You can only be responsible for you. When you change, people will follow. Lastly, by living your life to the fullest, you contribute to making the world a better place to live.
But let's face it. Change is hard. We are creatures of habit, and many of our behaviors were learned in childhood. Maybe those behaviors served us at one time, but eventually we will be called to change if we want some part of our life to be different. As someone who has been committed to personal growth and change for over 20 years, let me share with you five essential ingredients I've learned you must have to successfully make changes in your life.
1. ACTION
You can read every self-help book, attend seminars, or talk with people about how they've made changes, but unless you actually take action, nothing is going to happen. Of course gaining knowledge helps. However, it's only the first step to change. Our mother's group at church recently read a book called She's Gonna Blow. In that book, there were hundreds of suggestions on how moms can better manage anger with their children. If a mom is dealing with frequent anger at her children, then she must take some of the principles and actually apply them to her life. Maybe it means she has to resolve anger from her past, count to 10 before she responds, or reserve daily relaxation time for herself. She must do something different if she is going to conquer her anger issues.
2. FOCUS
To focus, you need a vision and a plan. How do you want your life to be different and what is your plan to change it? This is one thing I have learned from starting my own business. I have a tendency to have a million (well, not quite) ideas about what I want to do to grow my business. I will start to work on one idea and then jump to the next, and then on to something else,3. Spontaneous laughter. Pretty soon I am wondering what exactly I am accomplishing. Is my business actually growing or am I just doing a lot of tasks that don't produce results? For every change you are trying to make, pick two or three things you can do to support that change and stick to them. Try those things for a substantial period of time before you move on to something else.
3. DISCIPLINE
This is what will carry you through when the going gets tough. Anyone can stick to change for a week or two. It takes a disciplined mindset to make lasting change. You have to be able to pick yourself up when you fall down, brush yourself off, and try again. For two years, my older son, Kai, played travel baseball. Then he encountered a long hitting slump and he was no longer a superstar. His dad and I kept telling him he needed to be practicing or his hitting would not improve. It took two years of crushing disappointment from not making the travel team for Kai to learn discipline. He now faithfully practices his hitting at least five times per week. It totally comes from him and his desire to succeed. His discipline has developed a lifestyle change for him that has tremendously improved his hitting and his confidence.
4. COURAGE

It is normal to feel fear, but yet it is so crippling. To have courage is to not feel fear, but to push through the fear. I have always had a dream of singing on the music team at church. Singing on our church music team meant I had to go through an extensive and frightening audition. I could have easily sat on the sidelines and never taken that risk. Instead, I mustered the courage to try out. It was one of the most nerve wrecking experiences I've had. Even though I didn't make the team, I learned something about myself. I am capable of conquering fear, and I lived to tell about it.
5. SUPPORT
Change requires supportive people in your life. You need people who believe in you and who will encourage you on your journey. Sometimes you need someone to hold you accountable for what you say you're going to do. You need friends and family members that won't let you give up. You need love and understanding when you are struggling. Surround yourself with loving and helpful people, and put God at the center of your life. Some changes are so difficult, but all things are possible with God.

Then he encountered a long hitting slump and he was no longer a superstar. His dad and I kept telling him he needed to be practicing or his hitting would not improve. It took two years of crushing disappointment from not making the travel team for Kai to learn discipline. He now faithfully practices his hitting at least five times per week. It totally comes from him and his desire to succeed. His discipline has developed a lifestyle change for him that has tremendously improved his hitting and his confidence.
4. COURAGE
The number one reason we resist change is fear,Healing Envy by Margaret Paul. Sometimes it can be scary to change. It is much more comfortable to remain status quo. It is normal to feel fear, but yet it is so crippling. To have courage is to not feel fear, but to push through the fear. I have always had a dream of singing on the music team at church. Singing on our church music team meant I had to go through an extensive and frightening audition. I could have easily sat on the sidelines and never taken that risk. Instead, I mustered the courage to try out. It was one of the most nerve wrecking experiences I've had. Even though I didn't make the team, I learned something about myself. I am capable of conquering fear, and I lived to tell about it.
5. SUPPORT
Change requires supportive people in your life. You need people who believe in you and who will encourage you on your journey. Sometimes you need someone to hold you accountable for what you say you're going to do. You need friends and family members that won't let you give up. You need love and understanding when you are struggling. Surround yourself with loving and helpful people, and put God at the center of your life. Some changes are so difficult, but all things are possible with God.
